Falta de diversidade entre os vencedores gerou protestos na internet

A cerimônia do Emmy Awards 2021 ocorreu na noite do último domingo (19), no Microsoft Theatre em Los Angeles, e ficou marcada pela falta de diversidade em sua lista de vencedores.

O evento, que contou com o ator Cedric the Entertainer como mestre de cerimônia, já chamou atenção desde o anúncio de suas nomeações por se concentrar em séries com elencos predominantemente brancos e o resultado dos artistas e equipes premiados não foi muito diferente.

Em destaque, ficaram séries como The Crown, O Gambito da Rainha e Ted Lasso — ao todo, os 15 primeiros vencedores do Emmy foram pessoas brancas, o que deixou muitos telespectadores insatisfeitos.

Nas redes sociais, internautas utilizaram a hashtag #EmmysSoWhite (que em tradução livre significa “Emmys [são] tão brancos”) para apontar que, apesar de muitos atores negros terem sido convidados para apresentar categorias na cerimônia ou participar de performances, como foi o caso do músico Leon Bridges, os prêmios não chegaram em suas mãos.
